Student Spotlight⭐⭐
Ole Miss Computer Science students, junior Aashish Dhakal and sophomore Ishan Pathak, collaboratively developed a project connecting seniors with dementia to their past through advanced AI. The platform features lifelike clones for interactive conversations and the ability to schedule future letters. Recognized with the 'Best First-Time-Hack Winner' at HackHarvard 2023. Congrats to these two on their accomplishments!

AMBASSADOR SPOTLIGHT ⭐⭐⭐

Celia Watson, a junior biomedical engineering student, has found her passion for community service through coaching youth volleyball.

"My favorite volunteer work that I've participated in college has been coaching youth volleyball. After playing volleyball from middle school through high school, I missed it so much when I came to college. However, volunteering at Oxford's volleyball club encouraged me to share my love of the sport while mentoring younger girls by leading practices and traveling with them to tournaments. I am so grateful for all of the lessons that I've learned in patience, compassion, and adaptability from coaching!"

Celia is actively engaged in various organizations, serving as the Sisterhood Support Team Leader for Chi Omega Sorority Tau Chapter. She is also a member of the Biomedical Engineering Society, Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honors Society, Youth Movement Against Alzheimer's, Spanish Club for Healthcare Professionals, Ole Miss Pickleball Club, and Catholic Campus Ministry. Celia's dedication to both her academic pursuits and community involvement exemplifies the spirit of a well-rounded and compassionate student.

Hugh Barnett, Ole Miss Engineering class of 1939,

Hugh Barnett, Ole Miss Engineering class of 1939, is the University of Mississippi's oldest living alumnus! During his time as an engineering student, he was a member of the American Civil Engineering Society and an honor roll student. As an engineering graduate, Barnett is the oldest alum of both the university and the oldest engineering program in Mississippi. After graduation, Barnett worked on the Manhattan Project, supervising one of the three isotope separation processes that provided uranium-235 to the K-25 plant in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. AMBASSADOR SPOTLIGHT ⭐⭐⭐
Emmy Miller is a mechanical engineering junior and currently serves as the Vice President of the Ole Miss Engineering chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers.

"SHPE has provided so much for me, and I want to be able to share that with other students on this campus. SHPE also allows me to embrace my ethnicity and passion at the same time."

Emmy's leadership in SHPE is driven by a desire to pay it forward to other students on campus, providing them with opportunities and support from SHPE.

Her other involvement on campus includes the Engineering Student Body Leadership Council, Society of Women Engineers, and Kappa Delta.

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT ⭐⭐⭐
Senior Emily Dusin is a stellar example of what it means to thrive within the School of Engineering.

She is currently serving as president of our chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. On top of that, she does literacy volunteer work at local elementary schools and is a teaching assistant for engineering thermodynamics! Emily has completed internships with Chevron Phillips Chemical Company and Indorama Ventures and will be heading to Chevron Phillips Chemical Company to work as a full-time process engineer after graduation.

AMBASSADOR SPOTLIGHT ⭐⭐⭐
Benson Le is a computer science sophomore who is taking advantage of everything Ole Miss Engineering has to offer.

“I became an engineering student because the faculty and students have shown me what community and opportunity means. These people have supported me throughout my whole time at Ole Miss, and I wanted to be a part of something special.”

Benson loves to be involved on campus and take on leadership roles! He is a french horn and mellophone player in the Pride of the South Marching Band, the RebelTHON multi-media director, an Honors College Ambassador, and the Associated Student Body Director of Photography.
